New Subjectivities

Roma Gadomska-Miles (2nd Year)

A Parliament of Houses

Perhaps there is no housing crisis but rather a political crisis that sees ideology surpass evidence. Grassroots movements are currently using political pressure and pioneering tactics to confront the neo-liberal economic model of delivering homes. This project maps a network of people who have made the decision not to be complicit in the mass privatisation of the city but to be active in the struggle for its retrieval. Off the back of the Farrell Review’s requirement for urban planning rooms, the proposal brings their powerful yet disparate activities together under one roof. It is designed to consolidate, legitimise and expand their activities and ultimately to initiate a paradigm shift in the delivery of housing in London.
