The project evolved from a study of the
planned economy of TM city in Romania which today is a shrinking city. It proposes a regional strategy of landscape
rehabilitation, the sell off of an industrial waste product and the formation
of agricultural cooperatives to re-establish village communities, focusing on a
barn building for one of these villages. The building is a long linear
structure that responds to the seasonality of the programme through a sliding
roof that opens part of the building up and a heavily insulated wall build up
around its civic centre.
