Independent London
The line between real and fiction is becoming
ever fuzzier as our lived reality is morphed effortlessly to suit different
narratives. Post truth culture has seeped into our real allowing skewed
perceptions to direct outcomes; the most obvious examples being the US
presidential elections and the UK’s eventual withdrawal from Europe. This
project is set in independent London. London has officially divorced from
England and is faced with sole responsibilty for its imports. Using the Thames
as the distribution network it once was is instrumental to the city’s survival.
Deepwater vessels carry international shipments into a new port at Erith
Harbour. Here they are transferred onto barges and distributed to wharves that
are spread along the length of the river, each specializing in a different type
of import.
